The University Institute (UNI) is an independent part of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín. The mission of the institute and its main activity is the support of research, development and innovation with an emphasis on applied research in co-operation with companies.
The activities of UNI are focused on the support of all the stages of research, development and innovation activities from the inception of the idea to the successful implementation of the research results in practice or in the market. UNI operates a technology park at the TBU in Zlín, it has at its disposal a modern infrastructure for science and research, and it employs its own scientists and closely cooperates with the best scientific capacities both at the university and externally. There are a number of experts and specialists at the institute, who offer a range of professional services, which make scientific, development and innovation work easier.
The research, development and innovation activities carried out in the technology park complex of the TBU in Zlín are focused on the area of polymer sciences, i.e. polymer materials, technologies and products applied in fields such as healthcare, veterinary care, the food industry and biotechnology.
The University Institute offers it commercial customers the possibility to carry out research activities on the premises of the technology park and to take advantage of services encompassing access to a contact network of scientific capacities, the provision of legal protection of the research results, the preparation of research and innovation projects and other professional services. In this way it achieves its objective of supporting cooperation with industry.
